Power steering pump pulley
Anybody know how to get the pulley off the PS pump? I know it has something to do with the allen wrench hole in the end of shaft, but beyond that I'm lost and haven't had any luck with chanel locks. I've got a good pump W/the wrong bracket and a bad pump W/the right bracket! Any help would save money and time if I could just change them.

Re: Power steering pump pulley
The pulley is pressed on. You need a special tool to remove and reinstall it. You can get a Cheapo Chinese Hop Sing made PS pully remover/installer kit for around 20-30 bucks. Some auto parts stores will rent them for free.
You'll never getting the pulley off with a channel locks. The press fit is a few thousands. Its on there pretty tight.

Thanks for the info. I've had everything else apart on a car but the PS pump.
If it wasn't so dam cold here in Indiana, I'd just hit the local U/pullit and grab me a pump. What get's me is why the end of the shaft has a hex head hole?
That's like having a flat tip screwdriver slot on a head bolt!!.
