How to loosen steering column

I was on the way to change my Ignition Switch today, and its seems hard to find it behind all the cables and **** thats under there..

The ignition switch is it on the topside of the steeringcolumn somewhere around that arrow ? or ? havent really found it yet.. needed to check with you guys first

The thing is that the steering column has to be lowered , I tried to remove the 2 bolts that holds it up but I couldnt lower it so much, is there anything more I need to loosen / remove before I can get to the ignition switch ?..

and I got TILT on my steering, and then its one right ? (steering with TILT) : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

bacause the 95 one (is for vehicles without tilt) :http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

So I need to go back to the shop and get my US95 ignition switch changed to US105 .... because I have steering with tilt...
this is the one I got:
its the US95 and it seems like its for the non tilt models (it says so in the information in the box. havent checked it against the stock one yet but..)
Is there anything else to think about before I replace it ?..

Anyone here that changed it and maybe have som pictures ?

Re: How to loosen steering column

When I lowered mine there were 2 bolts on a shinny metal bracket that held it up. If you are sitting in the seat they are about where the tops of your shins are at. After I took those out the coloumn dropped to where the steering wheel rested on the seat.

Yeah I removed those to bolts, but it didnt wanted to go down all the way to the seat.. I didnt want to push it down, dont want to brake something like the steering or brakeswitches down there..

Re: How to loosen steering column

i usually almsot always pull the column out when replacing and ignition switch

if you wont pull the column then rmeoving the seat real quick will allow the column to come down real far so as long as wiring and such allows it

gotta do what ya gotta

Re: How to loosen steering column

Yeah there isnt a risk of breaking anything if I do it gentle and removing the rubber sealing in the firewall to ? its just those 2 bolts that holding it then ?

Gotta get the switch replaced with the right one, the us105 first before I remove anything..

Thanks for the help
