Tach Reads high after sitting..

Car has been sitting for over a year, and i recently put it back on the road. At idle it used to read ~800 rpms, now it's at around 1500. Interstate driving w/ 2.77 gears @60mph, I got about 2k rpms, and now i'm almost at about 3500. It usually redlines at moderate acceleration.

I imagine a tune-up is in order-- plugs, oil, air... but should I invest in a transmission flush? I fear a bad radiator may have leaked coolant in the lines.

i'm getting my baby ready to be sold, and want to send her off in good condition. thanks.

Re: Tach Reads high after sitting..

All too common, mine did the same thing. Fixed it with this thread. Instead of soldering in the proper resister solder in a variable resister with a range that encompasses the proper value for the known blown resister. That way you can calibrate your tach to a computer/scanner reading with the turn of a dial.
