Starting Problem + Surging
Just picked up a 1989 GTA 5.7 TPI. Car is generally good shape, but it's been sitting since 2003. I can get car to start with a fresh battery and jumper cables hooked from my truck. But it won't start off battery alone. I'm assuming I am dealing with some sort of grounding problem, but hoped someone here could save me a step or 2.
Also, once started and warmed up, engine 'surges' up and down. Checked MAF sensor and it checked OK. I'm thinking EGR (can it be tested on this vehicle?), but, again, would like to avoid the hunt and peck approach.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This car should be a fun project!
