New Member needs help

First off i would like to say hello. and give a little backround on my new car.

It is a 87' Iroc Z 305 tpi 700r4 barn find. by that i mean the car has not been on the road for over 15yrs. Guy buys the car new in 87' drives it until 93' when he blew up the motor with 55k on the clock. motor was rebuilt in 1997 as a 30 over new flattops and heads ported and polished ect. car was never put back on the road. it sat in a Garage for the next 15yrs. here is the problem. the guy never finished the install properly. there are vacuum lines and many other things that were not conected there is loose stuff everywhere and i have no clue where they go. The car runs but VERY VERY rich, so rich it is smoking unused fuel clouds of it. where do i start are there sensors that could be stuck or could bad gas be clogging things up? where should i start?

Bad gas doesn't burn very well, thats for sure, it stinks and smokes, and is about like makin the car run on kerosene. Check around on your regonal board and see if you can get some one to post up a few close ups of their stock motor bay, its a start. Get a Haynes manual from Auto Zone for like $15 and see what you can track down from their.
