Fuel Pump

So I just picked up an 86 mpfi 2.8 firechicken, and there's no fuel getting to the motor. Can anyone tell me where the fuel pump inline fuse is ?

Re: Fuel Pump

Welcome Aboard!

Look next to the battery:

Or on a V-6, it MIGHT be in the fuse panel:

If the "Check Engine" light turns on with teh ignition switch, the fuse is probably good, since it also powers the ECM. If that's the case, make sure the fuel pump relay is operating.

Re: Fuel Pump

I just went through diagnosing my fuel pump as bad. In the process of taking stuff apart now. This thing is a pain in the ***. Good thing i got under here though, found the drivers rear caliper leaking . Good luck. And if you check the wiring leads to the fuel pump (flip the rear seat back down) the red is for the prime lead, and tan/white is the run lead. Oh, and dont forget the ground.

Re: Fuel Pump

How do you check the fuel pump relay to make sure it is operating correctly? I'm having the same sort of problem.

I tried to start the engine many times before realizing that my tank was bone dry. I remember hearing the hum of the fuel pump early on. But now there's no fuel pump sound. I'm hoping I didn't burn out the pump. But I need to check the in line fuse as well as the relay. Any advice on the relay would be great.

Thanks
