No High Speed Heater/AC Blower
I have a 3.1 92 firebird
My high speed doesn't work.
I found this post on the subject:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...lower+resistor
I think my car is a little different than in the post above.
I don't have a fusible link in the location described. I only have that wide black connector with three wires sticking out.
Also the thick red wire doesn't run up across the firewall across the engine bay.
Mine goes down toward the front of the car to a terminal near the air filter. This terminal is directly connected to the battery and branches 12v to other locations.
I followed the wire and didn't find anything that looked like a connector.
Is anyone familiar with this setup?
Thanks

Check the following link (and the pic of the relay):

Re: No High Speed Heater/AC Blower
The relay in my car is connected to a flat and wide connector. I don't believe this is the offending connector.
The red wire from the connector then goes into a wire bundle and toward the front of the car.
There is another thick red wire that goes across the firewall but it's not connected to the relay.
Also I don't have that connector (the "extremely stupid connector") sticking out of the wire bundle near the valve cover on the passenger side.
Am I the only one with this setup?
On another note, I pulled off most of the sleeving from the wire bundles and I also removed the air filter canister to get a better look at the wires near there I put it all back together and now my SES light is coming on and off. Just what I need.

Re: No High Speed Heater/AC Blower
Well I figured out my problem(s). The second problem I had with the SES coming on was because I forgot to reconnect the MAF sensor, plugged it back in and no more problem.
I never did find the "extremely stupid connector" but I kept hunting and I found the offending device.
The fan speed selector switch is burned up. When I started disconnecting the control panel I noticed there was some melted plastic on the back of the switch. I took it out and opened it up and sure enough the insides were burned up.
Anyone have a part number? Although it seems like something I am going to have to pull from a junk yard.
Any guesses as to what could have caused this?
