Vacuum Hose that goes nowhere!

Up by the cruise control ther are vacuum hoses. They have a t-fitting and the one that comes off at 90 degrees, where does it go? It has vacuum on it and it is just laying there? Does anyone know? I have looked and cannot find an open port? If you need more info or pics let me know?

Sorry, this is on a 1990 Iroc Convertible.

Pics and the engine size and type would help. I can post you a full vacuum diagram if I knwo the engine type. Also, as Ward suggeste, I'm thinking it's the charcoal canister you're talking about, but pics would help...

Found the issue. Now if someone knows what this is? It is from the top of what looks like a canister up by the cruise control. Also it is a 1990 305 tpi. Here are some pics of the broken (what I think is a vacuum purge regulator???)

It is a purge valve solenoid, but not for vacuum. That canister is taking the fumes from the gas in your tank, and storing them in that canister and then when commanded by the computer, it's opening the valve and burning the fuel. It saves you a little bit on your mileage.

Here's the vacuum diagram for your engine, if you still need it.

Is this part available? Do I have to purchase the entire canister assembly? This could explain the rough idle and what smells like light flooding.

Re: Vacuum Hose that goes nowhere!

One end goes to the cruise control and the other goes to the Vacuum Reserve Chamber (the round plastic ball inside the driver's fender). It's different from the charcoal canister, which is an emissions device. The vacuum reserve chamber stores a little vacuum to run the HVAC control valves and servos under the dash and the cruise control vacuum servo during brief periods of low engine vacuum (like when you go to wide open throttle, for example).

My car does not have the ball? It goes to a dead port on the purge regulator. I just capped it off and went on my way. No problems and everything works fine.

Re: Vacuum Hose that goes nowhere!

Now the search function got me where I was looking at, I found that same t with a hose that goes nowhere. Now to go to the junkyard and look for that ball. Not sure why but eh, maybe I'll find the next thing I'm looking for which is some nice replacement seats for my camaro.
