VIN Number HELP!!!!!
Hey guys.
Some interesting information on my firebird.
It has 2 VIN numbers. The only one that was not ripped off on the body, located on the rear bumper, reads 1G2FS2189KL258415. This indicates that it is a Firebird Base/Formula 5.7L V8.
The other VIN, on the window sticker is one from a 305 firebird of a different year... a 90's model, and it ends with NY47071.
The engine ID code reads 5.7LG, means its a 350, and the tach redlines at 5500RPM, another indication it is a 350. The body is also from the factory, and appears to be consistent with the VIN located on the rear bumper. The differential stamping reads "Borg Warner" and has a plate that says 3.27 GEAR RATIO. The borg Warner 3.27 Rear is ONLY found on the 350 700r4 cars.
The title VIN reads NY47071. The Yellow sticker in the door reads: "NY47071: Affixed by the state of new york as a replacement plate after examination of this vehicle."
I don't know what the &^$% this is all about. I want to know why the VIN on my Inspection sticker reads that I have a &@%$&*@ 305.
Why would this be??

Re: VIN Number HELP!!!!!
i would delete this post and forget about it... there was a long post on here about the police getting involved on a vin dispute. i think that you could get nailed pretty bad if the police got involved.

Re: VIN Number HELP!!!!!
You can change the window data plate. You can change the center console to change the RPO data decal. You can change the doors to change the decal on the door but it's difficult to replace all the other vin decals attached to the main part of the body and there are quite a few of them.
There should be a body decal inside the spare tire compartment. There should also be one behind the paneling of the hatch.
I wouldn't trust any decal that's on a part that can be replaced.
