Valve cover breather

I wanted to know from the guys that have done away with the pcv system on their tpi, what vacuum cap did you use on the plenum, where did you get it, and what filter did you use on the valve cover cause on the filter, I can't find one that fits tightly.

Re: Valve cover breather

The reason is because with a polished plenum and runners and chrome pulleys with a polished strut tower brace, the pcv valve throws off the whole thing. I have done this mod before on a civic I had and it looked better than the pcv system. Can anyone help me cause the little spectre filters from autozone don't fit securely.

Re: Valve cover breather

you would probly need a breather with a smaller hole 3/4" i think instead of the 1-1.25" holes.

Or you could cut the grommet out to fit the spectre ones. I have one in my valve cover using a modified factory grommet, but i kept my PVC on the other side.

i wouldnt get rid of the pcv system just for 'looks'. its there for a reason

Re: Valve cover breather

Spectre makes a polished or chrome i dont remeber valve cover breather with a built in pvc adapter and you attach your stock rubber line to it to still utilize the pvc system but have that nice shiny look. Thats what I got on my car.

Re: Valve cover breather

Shiney is nice, but I'd keep the pcv system if I were you, oil spewing out of seals doesn't look very nice either, nor does sludge buildup inside the crankcase. If looks is what you are going for you could always move the valve to the rear on the other valve cover to make it less visable and use a pushin style breather on the other cover if that's the look you're going for. The benefits of a pcv system greatly outway the "bling" look of a shiney chromed out engine when it comes to build up in the crankcase and the integrity of seals.

Re: Valve cover breather

I'm not talking about blocking the pcv. If that were the case, then yeah I'd blow gaskets and have a serious sludge problem. Anyway, I found a breather but no vacuum cap yet. Thanks for the help anyway.

Ok I think I understand you now, I thought you were talking about needing a vaccum cap for the vaccum port for the pvc but your actually talking about a cap for the fresh air inlet on the throttle body. I assume you're still running the pcv on its stock port? Sorry can't say I know what size you need for that port..plugging it is a good idea though since it would allow unfiltered air into the tb.
