350 spark problem
350 spark problem
i have a carb 350 thats was running great until the distributor hold down got lose and now i havent been able to start it since there is no spark i thought the coil was bad so i got it replaced it backfired once then nothing after that i cant figure it out i know the timming is close enough to start its not 180 out its got power and ground the firing order is also right i have no idea what the hell is going on PLEASE HELP ME!

I'm assuming you didn't pull the whole distributer out when you saw it was loose, that you just tightened it back up. Assuming all that, make sure the wire plugged into the terminal marked "bat" is actually hot. If it is, then I would just about bet (since you've already replaced the coil) that you have a bad module.

With no disrespect intended, if the clamp was loose enough for the distributor to ride up to begin with (and maybe high enough to float around) then how do you know where it came back down?
I'd pull the right valve cover off and bump start around to top dead center just to make sure I have a both valves up and not 180 out. Remember the timing mark will line up twice, at TDC and 180 degrees off.
