Where do these hoses go?

I have these three hoses from my purge valve(?) that aren't connected to anything. According to Chilton's they are supposed to be connected to the purge canister, but I don't have a canister as far as I know of. I have the TPI set up and my air filter box is in the corner where the canister is supposed to be (according to book). I can smell some serious fumes coming from the bigger hose and I hear it hissing, and one of the smaller hoses has a plug in the end of it.

I unscrewed the gas cap and it helped with the hissing temporarily.

You have an SLP cold air induction box on your car. The stock Firebird air filter would sit in a box in the same spot, but a much smaller box. The fuel evaporation canister would be next to it.

Installing the SLP CAI requires moving the evap canistor to somewhere else in the car. Below the air filter and behind the air dam seems like a good spot.....Unfortunately most people who install SLP boxes, just ditch the evap canister and plug the hoses.

It's a shame. You're losing fuel vapour to the atmosphere that would normally be held until the engine could burn it. Pollutes and wastes gas by venting it.

Is there a red electrical connector near there that appears to be unplugged?

On the plus side, the SLP box works a lot better than the box on my '89. And the '87 stock air filter box is even worse than the '89.

Yes! I have been trying to figure out what that plug goes to. I noticed someone had shoved a clothes dryer hose next to the filter box and out the bottom of the car, it was smashed up so I pulled it out. Should I get one of those aftermarket K&N kits and get rid of that box completely? I guess I need to buy a canister too. It makes it so difficult when people "rig" stuff up like this. I was about to go bonkers looking for that canister. By the way, here's the red plug.
