Re: mineral spirits damage?

what are you going to do with mineral spirits ? i often put 12-16 oz. in my crankcase just before draining/changing oil with no adverse effects . i feel it helps clean out sludge . do not drive like this or rev engine , i just start and let idle for 2-3 mins. . then drain oil . i know this is going to stir up a lot of comments , works for me .

Are they in the engine or out? If they are out then NO, works fine if your cleaning to reuse them, if they are in the engine then what is your intention? And Tom I know a guy that cleans his engine by draining the oil, filling it with a gallon of diesel and letting it idle for 5 min. then draining and filling with fresh oil, I don't think I would try it but it "works for him".

the motor (98 vortec 350) junkyard motor i was tearing down to build was to clean and didn't have any wear. so going to try using it like it is and save money. cleaned cabon off top off of piston and let some set on top of piston to see it drained down. sparyed wd40 after done.
