AIR Pump seized pulley

Sarted up my 350 TPI las night and the thing started squealing. The smog pump pulley wasn't moving. Has anyone eliminated this thing? What about the AC while we're at it?

Re: AIR Pump seized pulley

I took my AIR pump off and put an idler pulley that I got on ebay in its place. It has been like that for a year now without any problems.

yes, there is a thread (maybe a sticky) about how you can re-route the belt to delete the smog pump. You will need a 1in shorter belt though. I'll look and see if I see it somewhere.

and as far as the a/c. you will have to run it or an a/c delete pulley. you cant bypass both of them or it will leave the tensioner useless. Those delete pulleys are usually bought off ebay for around $40. Or just leave the compressor on it. Its not robbing much hp at all unless its turned on.

Re: AIR Pump seized pulley

I'll look for the AC delete pulley and would appreciate any info on the AIR delete setup. Thanks.

do a search, but from what I remember, you simply remove it. Then with a 1" shorter belt (go to advance and have them look up the stock belt, the number given is actually a length, so if they call for a k93.5, tell them you want a k92.5) You start by putting the belt over alt and power steering, (working clockwise) over the water pump and back down under the crank pulley. then up over the a/c. Then use the tensioner.

Re: AIR Pump seized pulley

Thanks for posting the info. I ordered a AC delete pulley last night ,29.95 with shipping. Will put that on first then see how it affects the length of the belt and will then delete the AIR pump. Will post outcome.

Re: AIR Pump seized pulley

I ran the stock belt with the a/c delete pulley, then I switched to under-drive pulleys and the air pump delete. I had to go down 2in in length. 1in for the smog delete, and one for the pulleys. Good luck, its really pretty easy.
