I have a 1986 firebird-trans am with tpi and stock transmission. Tranny Ran fine did a tranny filter and oil change still ran find for like a month and then i let it sit in my garage for like a month due to vacation and then i went to drive it and the car was kickign pretty hard into gear and did not want to up shift or down shift when you get on it. I found out that i accidentaly overfiled it a pint. Newb mistake i kno drain the excess and put correct amount int car shifts a lil better but still doesnt wanna down shift and then up shift when you get on it. And does want to up shift when i just press the peedle and start gradualy speeding up. Now could there be any simple thing i could be missing besides the fact that i just blew my transmisiin due to overfilling it any ideas would help thanks.

 

Haha might have found the problem but still not sure cause i havent taken a test ride because car is up on jack stand and i still need to replace front shocks but TV cable was disconnects from throttle plate but thread will stay open until ive for sure found problem

 

Pretty sure its the disconnected TV cable.

 

Yeah an disconnected TV wire isnt really good.. could cause very odd problems..
