getting ready for the first start-up!
i have never primed a motor before so i am just looking for some instructions. a friend of a friend let me borrow the tool to prime the motor with oil, but im just not sure how to do it. is it ok to prime the motor about a week before I start it or should i prime it right before?
to prime the fuel, I should just turn the key to accessories a few times right?
is there anything i should do to prime the coolant system? ive heard from someone that if its not done correctly you can run into big problems...?
anything else i should know before attempting to turn the key?

Priming the oil system a week before first start-up is no different than not running the engine for a week.
The fuel system should prime with the fuel pump delay relay.
It's more like purging the cooling system than priming it. Most likely you have an engine driven water pump, so the engine has to be running in order to do that.

SBC's don't really need to be primed (oil), because of the oil pump design. If you lubed up the bearings, you should be fine.
Yea, just turn the key to "on", and the fuel pump will fill up the lines and you're done there.
and yea, just fill the cooling system from it's highest point, to avoid air bubbles. One way to do it, is to remove the t-stat for the first start up. After you've run it, you can put the stat back in...
