please help
Okay everyone im stumped so i figured i would ask everyone on here for your help. Okay lets start with car info its a 92 rs with a 70's 350 block thats bored 40 over still tbi and vortec style heads it has 373 gears just got headers and stuff but that has nothing to do with my problem. Okay now for the problem, [I have a chrome timing cover that leaks and i know that but its not drippingor anything] anyway when you get on my car it smells like burning oil and has for awhile, but it doesnt smoke a bit on startup or anytime that i knew of untill today i was doing about 70-75 and my brother was behind me and he said it was bellowing white-gray smoke like hell so i slowed down and continued to drive as i started up the next hill it was smoking really bad like i almost couldnt see my brother its white smoke but it doesnt smell like coolant or anything. I came home bout 45 minutes ago and in park above 2500 rpm it was smoking bad too, can anyone pleaase help me with whatever is wrong with it? note 4 days ago i got headers put on with an open element and chrome valve covers but i dont think thats my problem

Re: please help
Where's it smoking from? If it's smoking from the exhaust, I would think you have bad piston rings. If it's the engine, I would start by looking around the valve covers for a leak because if there's a leak on those, it would be leaking right onto your headers and the heat of them is burning it up.

Another thing it could be is what is happening to me now, im leaking oil somewhere from my oil pan it is falling right down on my exhaust tube and smoking up through the engine compartment.

Re: please help
Did you spray paint the inside of the headers or have them coated or anything like that to your knowledge?

Re: please help
I had the same prob a couple summers ago, turned out to be one of the valve covers. It was only leaking at the back of the cover, so it was hard to notice at first. They were cheap made in china valve covers that had warped.
