A friend was talking about a piece that you can put between the rear hatch and the latch to keep it slightly open while driving to promote air flow through the interior. It sounds like it could keep things a lot cooler while driving with the t-tops off. He said they used to sell them at JCWhitney, but they don't have it any more. I have had a hard time searching for it because I have no idea what they call it.

Does anyone have one of these? If so, are they good?

its a canooter valve , you can find them in most parts stores next to the exhaust bearings and turn signal fluid ..

i think your buddy is making crap up ..
