1987 Pontiac Trans AM Windshield washer pump problem.

I had to have the combination cruise control, blinker and windshield wiper lever replaced, as the other one was cracked where you pushed it forward to be able to spray windshield washer fluid on the window. The problem's I'm having with it now is that it doesn't want to go fast on the HI setting, it won't
squirt washer fluid on the front window. This is on a 87 Trans AM GTA. On the
LED display it shows washer on it as being the problem. The wipers work at LO
speed the majority of the time and it did want to work at HI speed sometimes as well. What could be causing it not to want to work correctly? A problem with a switch in the steering column, I'm not talking about the multi-function lever I mentioned above. Anyone else have this same sort of problem?

Sounds like your washer switch is going bad.
Not cheap.

You mean the switch that is in the steering wheel column? I'm beginning to think that it is in the steering column. I think the part is like $80.00 dollars or more. Must be the case with it working and sometimes not working at all.

Did they work on high before replacing the lever?

Yes. The only problem was with the window washer lever being broke and wouldn't spray the windows correctly. We tried the old cruise control lever and the new cruise control lever. It would do the same thing with either lever. It would work sometimes correctly and sometimes it wouldn't it.
