I THINK I've figured out my no-start..

I'm sorry if I should be continuing my old post, or starting a new one. So mods, please forgive me.

As some of you know, from my previous no-start thread, I'd been battling a particular issue(s).

What would cause this to happen:

The injectors are NOT ticking/pulsing as I crank the starter. My friend and I used a stethescope (that listening device similar to what a doctor uses) on the body of the injectors and found that they're NOT ticking when cranking. I KNOW that they're getting power because I've hooked up a noid light to both injector banks and the noid light WORKS. I have fuel pressure and it stays constant while cranking. the OHMS on the injectors are about 12.8.. 13ohms.

Interestingly enough, cylinder 8 is the only one that seems to squirt out some fuel, because that is the only plug is black (brand new plugs all around), and the only header tube that's slightly warm when cranking.

Could it be that I just have 8 DEAD injectors?

Unlikely unless you had some really really bad gas. You may have an issue with the Electronic control module. Remember the injectors are opened electrically when a signal is received from the ECM.

I agree.. I find it hard to believe that the injectors themselves are dead. They are brand spanking new injectors.

As for the ECM, I suspected that as well, but I got a reconditioned one from the local parts store, and still no luck. I used the noid light with the reconditioned ECM, and the noid light still works. So I know that I am getting power to the injectors, but why they're not ticking/pulsing... that's what's puzzling me.

Have you elimated the vats, find the connector on the steering coloum and read back up with the key in it in the on posisition.. If you don't gett any resistance(an open) vats will stop the injectors from firing. Usually sops the starter from cranking, but I have seen cars that wiill turn over just not start. Eliminate this first easy to check. What about oil pressure module also will stop injector pulse.

Re: I THINK I've figured out my no-start..

89RS: thanks for the tip on the VATS. But I actually just found the problem, and to my surprise, it was the injectors that were screwed. With the HSR, it took about 20 mins to change all 8 injectors, so I swapped them out with a set of 305 injectors, and the car started right up. The injectors at fault were BRAND NEW ACCEL 32# injectors. All 8 were faulty... I inspected all of them, and the pintles were stuck. After playing around with them, I was able to get the pintle moving just a hair in/out. Plugged them all into the injector harnesses, and I could actually feel the injectors then pulsing as I cranked. Reinstalled the Accels just for ***** and giggles, and the car actually started up, but dies very shortly after you crank it.

Damn Accels.. that's a big thumbs down from me. I've had bad experiences with their ignition modules as well. I'll never buy anything Accel again.

You must have gotten some made on the day the Accel was celebrating "free beer Friday" or some other off day. Few things more frustrating than finding out the problem was something you already addressed. At least you found it. Hopefully smooth driving from here.
