Speedo/VSS sensor HELP!

Car: '87 GTA WS6 package.
Engine: 5.7 350 w/ small cam, roller rocker
Transmission: T-5 out of an '85 Trans Am
Axle/Gears: Stock
Speedo/VSS sensor HELP!
So I have been informed that I need the VSS link that connects to the two plugs under the trans and into the speedo under the drivers side. Would I also need a VSS buffer box? I have purchased the two cables which need to be connected, but will the buffer box be necessary in linking the two together? As of now the cords just dangle underneath my car... HELP!
