1974 350 impala engine swap (bought it with the engine in it) I know the 74 heads are on it but I don't know what has been done internally if anything. It still has the stock 74 exhaust manifolds on it. Worse case senerio is that the guy took the engine and dropped it in the Camaro without doing anything internal to the engine. If that is the case what am I looking for needed upgrades with the engine? What do I need to know about these blocks?

I have planned on a new cam, heads, lifters,pushrods, and an intake.

 

A rebuild would be a good idea with an engine that old too. As soon as you start making power, things may start breaking. As for witch parts it depends on the goal and your budget.

 

I am not lookin at much, Maybe about 400-500 horsepower at the flywheel. I will put a different engine in after that but whith the way money is that will be at least 5 years from now, so I need some stuff done to this engine to get it running smooth.
