What does this do? Under coil
I needed to remove the distributor from my 88 GTA, 5.7 and came across this vacuum switch that was not connected at the electrical connection. This part sits under the remote mount coil and is attached to the same bracket as the coil. What does this do? The other side of the switch has two vacuum lines connected to it that go somewhere under the plenumn. Thanks in advance for your help.

Definitly egr solinoid. It should have 2 preformed plastic vacuum lines (which is an assembly) connected to it. 1 line goes to the egr valve itself and the other goes to a port under the driver side of throttle body

Re: What does this do? Under coil
Nope.
The only things are:
2 vacuum lines in the boot
1 electrical connection
The other nipple on the back USED to have a little foam filter. No need to replace it.
