DTCs come and go

First, the car is a 1986, eng. is from a 1991 Z28. Can anyone tell me why I get DTCs 22, 24, 32, 33, 36, and 44 and then they sometimes go away while driving, other times I have to shut down the car for a while. The ECM doesn't seem to be storing them permanantly. If I shut the car down for awhile, the codes aren't there upon start up. When they aren't there, this car runs so good.

sounds like a loose ground to the sensors related to those dtc's.

Re: DTCs come and go

Okay, I can't find any loose or missing ground wires, but I do have bad Maf burn off and Maf sensor connectors going to their respective relays. The only conditions that this happens at are when the temp reaches a little over the hash mark between 100* and 220* and when the car has been driven for 30-45 mins. As soon as I pull the codes and restart the car, they disappear. I have the TPI setup from the original motor and I noticed the EGR has a temp switch and the one on my motor does not. Could this be part of the problem?

Do you have a scan tool or just a code reader or flash codes? Without a scan tool its hard to know whats going on with the dtc related circuits. Next I would check terminal tension at the pcm or swap it out if a pcm is available.

No, I don't have a scan tool and I wish I did. I would love to be able to see what this thing is doing in real time. I use a papreclip in the ALDL connector to pull codes. Anyway, does anyone know if these codes are related or if one fails does it cause the others to fail as well? Also, before I cleaned the IAC with carb cleaner, the only codes I would get were 33 and 36.
