IROC ID

hey yall long time no chat. just picked up a so called 85 iroc. had questions about it in determining if its a true iroc since it has an RS tag on the bumper and havent ran the vin and cant get to it at the moment due to storage to see. it appears to have the quick steering box in it. but an 85 mph gauge cluster. but also has stock fog lights and the stock camaro stamped bumper cover. what are other ways to check for true iroc just by looking?

Re: IROC ID

I believe it has to have the RPO code b4z on the RPO tag found in the console. You can check this site for more info.

Re: IROC ID

There is no real way to tell if it's a real IROC or not just by looking at it and the VIN number won't tell you. However, if the VIN number on the car matches the VIN number on the RPO sheet, you can assume the RPO list is for that car and if it has the B4Z RPO code, it's an IROC. It will also have the Z28 RPO code. The IROC/Z28 also came with the 16" rims. It also came with the Wonderbar and a rear stabilizer bar. Since all badging, emblems, ground effects, console etc can be changed anybody with enough effort can change an RS to make it look like an IROC. There were no RS cars in 85.

www.rpocodes.com is another rpm search site.

Re: IROC ID

the wonderbar is there for sure not sure about the rear stabilizer i'll check that soon enouogh. dash says iroc z28. i'll check the rpo code. im pretty sure the stock steering box is there and it has to be the quick ratio one because it seems to turn alot easier than my rs.
