second gen bandit T/A

i know its not quiet a thirdgen but a friend of mine bought a 77 trans am and he's just about got it ready to drive but heres his problem, every one so far has said its the ignitIon module but if u guys have any ideas he would appretiate them
"ok I’m having a problem with my ’77 trans am. It will crank up and run fine, but after it warms up it chokes up and cuts off, I wait a few minutes and it will crank right back up. I put a carburetor kit on it and did a tune up a while back (new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor button.) Gas is getting to the carburetor fine and 12 volts is getting to the distributor so I’m wondering what else it could be. I’m thinking maybe distributor coil but I’m not sure. If anyone has an idea I would appreciate it."

Re: second gen bandit T/A

I'd go post this question over at the Perforance Years Forums: http://forums.performanceyears.com/forums/index.php

Its more geared towards classic Pontiacs.

To me it sounds like an ignition module or coil. The '77 T/A has a simple vacuum advance HEI distributor.
