went out today car will not even crank or turnover. when i turned the key just a starter solinoid click. one click. my light work fine and all power i have. battery looks good and battery cables are tight. If i turn on the lights and power and try to turn it over the lights stay on and will not dime.

 

Reach down and turn the engine a little by the fanbelt or put a socket on the crank bolt. Then give it another try. The starter may be stuck between gears.

 

have someone hold the key and tap the starter with a hammer usually frees it up starters on the way out it seems like

 

Have you tried starting it recently? My car is doing what sounds like the same or a similar thing. Mine will sometimes not start. I believe I have a problem with the anti theft system. Sometimes when I go to start the car I get nothing at all from the engine but all of the lights and gauges work. If I then wait about 4 minutes and try again it starts. It also is giving me a code 53 which deals with the theft system.

 

well i found out the cold weather killed my old starter. I had too move my y-pipe out of the way just to get the starter out
