Mysterious Blue "Pill". . .

Ok, so I had to pick up a new oil filter bypass valve, and with the valve there is the Tums-looking light blue pill of some sort. The salesperson at Chevy told me right away when I went to pick it up she had no idea what it was for. . .

So, anyone here know what the hell that is for and how to install the valve??? I looked up the part at the AC Delco site, and there's a picture with the lil' blue pill as well. Figured it does belong in the box, and comes with the valve. Not even my Chevy service manual mentions this at all.

I'm a n00b at this, and I'm guessing I just place the in the valve in the hole of the filter adapter. (seems simple enough?) Never noticed till' now, but on last oil change, the valve was missing!

Don't ask a parts person. See somebody in the service department.
