I need experienced/sound Advice.
Sorry for the lack of hours of searching the threads (At school and I am due back to class in 5 minutes)
I have a 1988 Pontiac Firebird, "BONE STOCK" with 5.0 TBI, Automatic, 15 inch rims, no posi.
I could really use a list of modifications that should be done in order for a well balanced/powerful vehicle.
For example..
1. Get an open filter element - Like 30 bucks.
2. Get wider 275/45/15 Z tires - 500 bucks
3. Buy a wonder bar - 150 bucks.
Etc...
I would really appreaciate it. If you need to, assume a budget of about 5000 for the whole car, but any list of any budget is appreciated.
Thank you.

A 5.0 automatic TBI is never going to be a powerhouse. The wonder bar will help make it firmer. A cam and free flowing exhaust would be the first engine mods for me. Air filters don't really make a difference except under high RPMs where your 305 won't be happy anyway.

I think an open filter element is always a good investment..., but of course i don't even have one.
Where did you find a wonderbar for $150? that sounds really expensive.

The '88 with a MAF might not like the open element filter so much.
I'll second the vote for a cam, springs, and valve work for the best bang for buck payback, complimenting a decent exhaust. .
