Code 34 Mass Air Flow Sensor Wont Go Away

I have a 85 Camaro sport coupe. It has the 6 Cylinder engine. The check engine light keeps coming on. When I pull the code the code is #34. I have replaced the mass air flow sensor. I have replaced the wires going to the mass air flow sensor three times with different one. I keep getting the code. I have checked the boot going from the Mass Air flow sensor to the throttle body, everything is how it supposed to be. Anybody have any ideas?

I also have another problem. Sometimes when I am driving, I will be accelerating and there is a momentary loss of power and then it comes right back. No longer than a second.

Re: Code 34 Mass Air Flow Sensor Wont Go Away

i have a similar problem on my 86 iroc. its a 305 tpi and it started tripping the code for the MAF, then a knock censer. not only does it trip the codes but when i drove it the engine light would come on and act sluggish. my dad and i think its flooding a bit. the when my rpms would coast down to around 2000 it would act as though i hit the gas and jump to 2500 and accelerate. then go back down and back up and keep doing that for a while. although with the original MAF this only accured i'd say 1 out of every 4 starts. when i replaced the MAF it kicked in automatically with this problem and the 1:4 ratio was gone, now it does it every time. i replaced the knock censer and the code went away, so i ruled that out, also replaced the ECM.

now my scanner says my RPMs are half of what my gages are reading so keep that in mind...

i am running my car with the MAF unplugged right now since it runs like crap with it. it sputters and floods if i have the MAF plugged in. if i let it idle with the new one plugged in it will eventually sputter and die. sometimes it will do that right after i start it and can't start it. i believe this is becuase of the engine fludding, but i need to find an answer to this problem, its my only car in the middle of winter here in IL.

oh and there's one thing we haven't tried that we were told might help, the O2 Censer, i haven't gotten around to putting it on yet however between work, storms, and the holidays.

any help would be great!

thanks

Does it set the code after every clear?
Have you disconnected the MAF started the engine and checkd for 12 volts at terminal "E" of the connector?
Do you get a code 33 with the MAF disconnected?
if it isn't the MAF, or wiring it's the ECM. Which, probably isn't want you to hear.
