Pistons?
I was talking to a guy today and he seems to think Flat tops lower compression and dish pistons raise it (he would probably bet his life on it)..... I know this is a stupid question but i want to MAKE SURE. Thanks

Re: Pistons?
ok thats what i thought. Thanks a lot for making me 100% sure.

also in another thread someone mentioned "Hypereutectic pistons are strong but brittle" he said minor detonation can cause them to crack. is that true. i was going to use them b/c they are cheaper than forged and its only going to be a 355. How do you guys feel?

Re: Pistons?
Hypereutectic pistons are very strong, but unforgiving. With a power adder if you have a momentary lean condition or have detonation under load a forged piston will usually slowly melt and burn away in places but keep running for a while despite the damage. A hypereutectic piston in the same condition will shatter into pieces. For a naturally aspirated street engine it'll never be a problem.
