bad ECM or short?
bad ECM or short?
I was having trouble with the engine dying as soon as I tried to give it a little gas, but it ran fine in open loop mode when I disconnected the MAF. I found a ground wire had pulled out of the plug at the MAF power relay, so I fixed that and it ran fine...until the next morning when it was back to square one, it would die as soon as I tried to give it gas. I checked all the wiring on the MAF and fuel pump relays and everything checked out, except this time I noticed that the ground wires all had between 0.03 and 0.07 volts on them, that is, all the ground wires going back to the ECM. I don't know if this was the case before I fixed the ground connection at the MAF power relay, but I tried unplugging all the relays and the MAF sensor, and I still get some voltage on the ground wires. Note, this is only with the key in the "On" position, not with the key off. Could it possibly be a short somewhere, or is my ECM toast? Is there anything else I can do to try to find the source of the problem? I hooked up my laptop to the ALDL port and ran WinALDL with the MAF and everything connected and the engine running (it will start and stay running for a bit). I got codes 33, 34, and 36. I also followed the diagnostic flow chart on www.chevythunder.com for a code 36, that is what led me to the ground wire problem.
Thanks!
