87 iroc starting problem

so i have an 87 iroc 5.7. no a/c and no emission. I bought a brand new battery today. when i go to start the car. It cranks then stops. If i keep holding the ignition theres nothing. I hear a the pump come on when i go to start and then nothing but the sound of something wineding up. All the fluids are good, batterys good. also the temperature gauge goes crazy when i go to start it it just jumps around. The voltage reader reads about 11. I cant think of anything. Any Ideas

Re: 87 iroc starting problem

ok so i fixed that problem now does anyone know how in the hell to get a broken bolt out of the thermostat housing. Its broken in the back hole on the engine itself not the actual housing. I didn't do it. lol. and it has barely enought threads showing to get any kind of pliers on

Re: 87 iroc starting problem

was it the starter that was the problem? i dont have this problem but its annoying going to a thread, people posting solutions and ideas, thread starter tells us what he's going to check or do, then the thread dies... w/o a solution or fix known.

but as for the bolt, there's a set of tools you can use, they're like small drill bits and you grind away the middle of the bolt, then take a screw driver or something and un-thread the bolt out. not sure what they're called but somebody used it on my car when a bolt broke while torquing a bolt to my flywheel at 60ft pounds or so.

hopefully someone can chime in on this, cuse i know its out there.
