HOT FUEL LINES & TANK

Guys,

I have a 1988 GTA with the 5.0L LB9. For some reason my fuel lines and gas tank gets hot while driving, and even hotter if the temperature outside is above 50 degrees. Of course this causes the fuel pump to whine loudly, and eventually the car just dies. I've changed everything from fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and fuel filter. Has anyone ever experienced this, or have an answer that could help me.

Thanks,

Jeff

Make sure the heat shield is still there to protect the tank from the exhaust. If not, that might be some of the problem.

David,

The heat shield is there. As a matter of fact I dropped the exhaust to get it away from the heat shield because my mechanic thought it was too close and causing the problem. I dropped it, but the problem is still there.
