When is a tune required?

I am considering putting new heads and possibly a cam on my 88 305. Will I have to get the car tuned or will it be ok as is?

Re: When is a tune required?

If you mean plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.. NO, you don't HAVE to change them. But why not, you have to remove those items anyway to change the heads, and plus, unless you current parts have very few miles on them, why not have a fresh tune up with your upgrade.

Re: When is a tune required?

If you mean tuned via computer, then YES. Original ECM was not tuned with those parts so the PROM would have to be modified.
