In the Pontiac Firebird trans am, were is the Ignition Starter Switch

My 89 firebird trans am isn't working rite now because i cant fined were the ignition starter switch is.and how it happened was i tryed to start my car and it wouldn't even tern over like there's no power but i do have power and it doesnt even make a switch sound ether.so please tell me were this is at.and we tryed the starter and the starter works so its not that.

Located ON the steering column just about where your feet reach. The ignition keys turns and causes a rod to actually push in on the switch located near your feet.

we looked under the steering column but we didnt look at the steering column is it like on the steering column?

The ignition switch is on the top of the column. You'll need to drop the steering column slightly to access it. It should have about ten or so wires plugged into it.
