Valve Guide's/ Valve seals for 305tpi

Ok my first search didnt turn up any info but ive did anther search and got it right this time SRY about this post

I really need new valve guides and or seals (whatever they are i havent really

looked into them much) and was wondering on how hard they are to intall like

can you do them with the heads on the car or do you have to pull them.

Any tips will be helpfull. Now from what ive heard its a farly time consuming mess to do them, and i think it would be at least $300 for a mechanic to do the work . And if its no harder than an intake gasket (which was a pain in the A$$) ill be able to tackle it.
