fuel pump replacement questions

I think my fuel pump is out on my 89 iroc. Does any one know if anyplace rents or loans fuel pressure testers? The car had been running ok but when you got up in the RPMs it would cut out and usually die. now it stats but dies almost immediatly. What do you guys think?

AutoZone will rent tools. I think Advanced will too. It does sound like the fuel pump could be on its way out. Better to check the presure before spending the $$$ on a new one.

Autozone and Advance do not rent Fuel Pressure Testers. I have worked at both. You can buy a fuel pressure tester for around $24.00 - $39.00

Re: fuel pump replacement questions

The autozone in Muncie did rent a fuel pressure test kit $150 deposit. But it was not listed that they did on autozone.com. I don't know if all autozones do but the one I go to did!!!

$150 deposit!?!?! Oh, my. That's like buying 5 of them outright.

I have an extra one in my toolbox. I'll loan it to you for free and I only require a $100 deposit.

You can go to Walmart, Napa, Autozone, Standard, Advance and buy one for around $40.00.. I know autozone that when autozone rents the tools they basically cost only $5 or $10 more than the tool actually costs. The ODBII scanner we rent only costs $125 to rent.
