What is the best oil to be using in the 2.8L?

Just about to do an oil change, but would like to hear everyone's perspective on which oil and even brand I should be using in the 2.8L (1989 Firebird)

Clean oil would be the best.
As long as you're diligent with the upkeep, brand won't make a noticeable difference.
As for type....5w-30 or 10w-30, whatever's suggested on the car.
