quick question

will a bad fuel filter cause a motor to bog/die/ have low fuel pressure? the fuel pump is brand new so i know or hope it isnt that. when the car starts to die, it acts like its trying to fight to stay running but just cant seem to get any power and then after a minute or so it dies.

Re: quick question

yes...if you put in a new pump you should have replaced filter at same time.....I replace my fuel filter every other oil change...I've had too many clogged filter burn pump out....also, did you get a good name brand pump....the reason I ask is because I long time ago I needed a fuel pump....So I went down and bought one of the cheaper ones from a local parts store...long story short, it went three days before dying again.....I would check fuel filter and see if that works, if not, you might have bought a bad pump or already burned it out....get a good pump... What is your fuel pressure at now???

Re: quick question

when i put the new pump in, which is the 4th one to go in in less than 3 months, i called a camaro specialist place and they told me to get my current pump that is made by ac delco. the fuel pressure as follows idle:38psi ,load:40psi ,2500rpm no load: 34psi; sometimes the fuel pressure bounces around when the car is acting up. i only replace the fuel filter when i did the first tune up when i got the car and ive had a few fuel pumps since then.
