not sure what to do. My car lately has been idling at around 500 and drops to 300 sometimes. Also when sitting in park it throws out black smoke every once in a while. The car is a bug off the line and seems to bog. I do know that i have a plug or 2 fouled, but how can i check the injectors on my tpi? I've been running injector cleaner like on 2 full tanks just to clean up whatever junk might be there. Replaced fuel filter, 02 sensor. What could be wrong? is the motor on it's way out? if so i'm F***ed cause i dont have the money at the moment to get the engine rebuilt or buy a new one.

 

Your description sounds like a rich mixture. Test fuel pressure, and standing fuel pressure after shutdown to determine if any injectors are static. Test injector solenoid resistances while they are hot. Anything below 12 ohms on a Multec is highly suspect.

 

the car is running very rich, but just recently its been back firing like crazy. Also when i try giving it gas just normal the speed doesnt rise that great. it works its way up verrrrrry slowly. i'm talking about putting the pedal floor down and it picking up as if i were cruising. what could cause such poor performance?

 

Also I just put some fuel injector cleaner and now the tank is almost done. Could the cause be the lack of gas and it running mostly on the cleaner?
