I bored my engine .040, have 9.3:1 compression dished pistons (Mine are Speed Pro Hypereutectic), set of 64-66cc heads (I have the world Sportsman II heads), Edelbrock performer intake, headers, and 3" exhaust. i am also running a roller cam with .515" lift.
I you look at my link in my signature, I have an engine page on my cardomain site...it details my build and includes the final dyno reading of 238hp to the wheels. If you figure 20-25% loss from drivetrain w/auto tranny and acessories (still have smog and AC), I'm right at 300 flywheel HP.
Total cost? $4500 including labor, but I went overboard with expensive roller rockers, new lifters, new pushrods, and new accessories. If you find a running 350 with a roller cam, you can re-use your lifters, rockers, pushrods (provided they aren't bent), and the serpentine set up that I bought seperate and installled. If you do it yourself, you can probably get it done for less than $3k.
now, 300hp to the wheels...you're going to have to talk to someone that's done it. Fairly easy with an LS motor, not sure what else I can do with a non-ls type to make it happen.

300 rwhp is easy, too. AFR 180 heads w/ 65cc chambers, cam depends on hyd. roller or hyd. flat. But around 230 duration @ .050" if flat, around 224 if roller. Intake depends on carb or EFI, carb use Ededbrock RPM AirGap, EFI use TPIS Mini-Ram. Of course you'll need headers and exhaust.

agree with atilla.....easy to build that much power....
My car is going to be carb. The motor has never been bored rather not bore it if I dont have to.
