What to buy?
Hey guys I have recently purchased a 91 camaro and am in the process of a cam swap but was wondering what works the best for these cars to get that lopey idle sound. The car has a 350 5.7 V8 in it.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: What to buy?
Since you are under the umbrella of Daley, and will likely have to pass an emissions test, the thing which will provide an idle lope may also prevent you from passing the sniffer test. Your pre-1996 car has to pass the single speed/idle test in Ill-Noise. A cam lobe profile with excessive overlap will cause lope, but will also cause raw fuel to exhaust. That will cause you to fail to qualify for license plates.
You might consider a better cam choice and sacrifice the lope for a little more power.

Thats interesting about having to pass the single speed/idle test I thought all 95 and prior cars were exempt as long as they passed emissions before they became exempt. I guess I'm going to have a hell of a time seeing as how I dont have a catalytic converter on my car! LOL

I agree with Vader. If you want something with a sticker stating the legality, I'd suggest Comp's 210/220-112, .480/.480" cam. With TPI, there's really no point in considering the 220/230-114 cam.
