Put air back on a delete car?

I just bought an 88 T/A with a 350 TPI. The previous owner deleted the A/C so there is nothing but a delete pulley there.

How hard would it be to put a complete A/C system from an '86 TBI back on this car? What should I look for?

Thanks!

Re: Put air back on a delete car?

Was just the compressor and some hoses removed, or was it a thorough removal of all the wiring, the box on the firewall and the controls replaced with non ac ones, etc?

The box on the firewall is gone. The controls are still there. But I can get a box off of an '86. Thanks for the reply!

The firewall box would be okay, but the '86 compressor is v-belt mounted on the driver side, and '88 is serpentine mounted on the passenger side.

OK, well, it must be newer than an '86 (the scrap yard guy told me it was an '86, and I didn't bother to look at the VIN), because it has the same serpentine setup as my car.

What would be involved with reconnecting everything? I'm pretty sure the radiator lines on mine have been plugged.

Re: Put air back on a delete car?

Should be easy to do, sounds like the bracket is there you just need to pull the deleat pully off and install the AC compressor. The Hoses can be baught new from NAPA. The AC evapirator housing should be the same as thg 1986 set up. condenser can prob. be pulled from the 86 also.
