86 Firebird Trans AM won't start...
Probably a common thread however I can't seem to find one that helps me solve my problem. I took the car for a ride, backed it into the garage and turned it off. Tried going out a few hours later and the car won't start. It turns over and tried to fire a couple of times but will not start and now it just turns over without any sign of starting. I have a service manual on the car and have checked the cap, coil, pickup coil, all wires and plugs are new, rotor and cap are new. I checked for fuel and it seems to be there, I changed the filter anyway but when you pump the gas fuel squirts into the front half of the carb, 4BBL. I put it all backtogether and checked what the spark looked like, it's orange not blue. Why? Any suggestions as to my problem. I also noticed a small amount of oil in the bottom of the distributer...seal must be leaking a bit...not sure if this is the issue or not.
Please help if you can...

Anyone, I have spark and fuel. Just tested with a spark tester...and have seen the fuel. Set the choke on manually, I'm at a loss of funds and patience.

Either the magnetic pick up or the ignition module. And if theres oil in the distributor, thats the seal on the shaft. I bet if you replace the distributor it will fix the problem. A new distributor comesw with a pick up in it.

Well I finally got it started...after 20 years of working in industry as a trouble shooter you think I would know it's always the stupid things that cause you trouble and it's rarely the complicated ones.
My initial instincts were right, I flooded the engine, repeatedly I guess. Finally took out the spark plugs and all were fouled badly...cleaned and gapped all and held the pedal to the floor...one turn of the key and it ran. Just came back from a long ride. Thanks for the help.
