Making a custom gauge cluster

I have an 84 Z28.

I want to make a gauge cluster, but I want to reuse the face plate and original plastic lens. I can build a box to mount the gauges in that would be like the original white plastic one, thats no problem. I just don't know where to find gauges that I could do this with. I need gauges without bevels, and without lenses. I want it to look like a stock cluster with nicer, more up to date gauges. I dont' want a later mode cluster, or any of that crap. If anyone knows of any brands that offer what I'm looking I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Oliver

Well i dont know of any gauges produced without lenses for something like your looking for. However there are 2 things to consider 1. even though they come with lenses and trim rings with a little "persuasion" they can be removed and 2. the factory bezel will also hide the trim ring if damged in removeing the lense or not completely removed.

Re: Making a custom gauge cluster

that is true, I would just need to measure the actual gauge face opening in the factory bezel and math that up with a gauge. Hard part is finding a full set of gauges that both match, look good, and have the ranges i'm looking for.

I dont want a damn 0-10,000 rpm tach when I stop making power at 6500 and redline at 7000. an 8k tach would be the highest I would want. and a 160mph speedo.

anyone know of any companys that make nice amber lit, black face, white digit, red needle gauges like those of my previous car (pic provided)?
