Car: 1988 iroc z

Engine: 350 tpi

Transmission: 700r4

Need help trans is acting up

i have an 88 irocz with a 700r4 trans and when it changes to O.D. and my rpms drop it shakes and stutters really bed for 5 to 8 seconds before stopping..... i thought it might have something to do with the torque converter but im not sure.... need advice on what to do with it. thanks
