Hi All,
A friend of mine who has a 83 z-28 305 motor just told me that his carb is backfiring. He mentioned that his first carb failed, and he replaced it with a Edelbrock 650.I told him its sounds like his tiiming is off.Any other ideas to through at him?

Re: Carb Backfiring
Timeing and a lean mixture are 2 common causes for back fireing in the intake. Ide like you suggested check the timing then look for vacuum leaks. Any particular time the back fire occures?

Re: Carb Backfiring
he didnt tell me.i think its the carb he is using.he has the same year z-28 as mine(1983) and motor(305).he is trying to put a edelbrock carb on his car,and it wont work due to his dist is setup for a ccc carb.
