Two Questions

1. I just picked up and 83 Z28, the drivers side EGR valve (possibly and EGR check valve, a small metal tube coming off the exhaust manifold and a valve on both sides leading to a larger valve) was broken off at just past the threads and as I was taking the passenger side EGR off to show the auto parts store. I replaced both valves and connected the drivers side back up. It was not connected at all.

Now If I rev the engine somewhat high then let the rpms drop there is a popping sound, possibly a really light backfire. Could this be cause by hooking up the EGR, possibly by circulating more fuel into the carb? what's the fix? What emission controls can you get rid of yet still pass Aircare(provincial emissions testing)

2. I have a loud squealing. Was on start up and then at higher RPM. I replaced all the belts, now it does not squeal on start up but then when quickly revved it will squeal. The Fan clutch was bad, so I changed it but the noise is still there.

Any suggestions? Possibly go through each pump and try to find a bad bearing?
