what to do to first?

Car: 1988 sc camaro, 1986 IROC
Engine: 2.8 v6, 305 tpi (for now)
Transmission: automatic, auto( for now)
what to do to first?
ok i'm just aking for the sake of making sure i don't do something wrong,
in january i bought a 86 iroc from a friend of my mother, he had originaly bought the car in 92 and had planned on building it up to a drag car, but didn't, he was halfway through a 350 swap when he hurt his back and gave up on the car, so the car sat not running for almost 6 years without the hood, fenders or nose on the car, now i finaly got the car to where ican work on it, and i wanted to ask, what should i do to get it running again? what should i look for to make sure i don't screw up the engine?
the engine is still a 305 with 86k on it and the only things not hooked up right now is the exhaust and the intake...
